Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice

The College approves a Code of Ethics which is a statement of principles for the practice of social work, and adopts Standards of Practice which describes the minimum acceptable level of performance for social workers in BC.

The Standards of Practice are specific statements which are both comprehensive in scope and practical in application.

These Standards of Practice will:

  • set the minimum acceptable level of practice
  • provide a guideline for Registered Social Workers to assess their own practices and develop and maintain high standards of practice
  • establish criteria for the assessment of complaints about the practice of Registered Social Workers
